I sent this out as a newsletter, but thought I'd better post it here as I'm now getting quite a few PMs and emails and won't have time to respond to them all. Also there may be non-members who are tempted by the site in question.
Anyway - I'll post any updates here as I find out more.
P.S. - If anyone still has the email in question, can you PM me all the headers so I can trace it (the spammer wisely did not send the email to me).

Hi All
It seems a spammer is sending out an email to members claiming to be me, spoofing an
alan@guitarforum.co.za email address and singing the praises of a tuitional website called Jamorama.
Please note, this email is *not* from me or Guitarforum, the email address does not exist and I do not know or endorse Jamorama. If you receive an email along these lines, please delete it.
To repay this delightful individual for his kindness and consideration in using my and Guitar Forum SA's names, please repay him by never signing up to his site, or - if you are already a member - cancelling your subscription.
Please note that there has been no breach of security on the Guitarforum.co.za web site. This person most likely signed up as a member and scoured the site for publicly displayed email addresses in messages or profiles. For future reference, please note: DO NOT include your email address in forum posts (use the secure PM system for contacting other members). Also make sure that your forum profile has the "Hide email address from public" option CHECKED (which will hide your email address from other members). To check or change this setting, visit "Account Related Settings" on your member profile at
http://www.guitarforum.co.za/profile/10/?sa=account .
Also note, I am pursuing this matter further with a view to laying fraud charges.
Regards
The real Alan Ratcliffe
