Johnny Marr played in The Smiths, and now plays with Modest Mouse and The Cribs.
Johnny Marr
Thanks for that. I love Johhny Marr. Ric 12-strings rule!
I love The Smiths, but I've never found Johnny Marr that inspiring. I don't hear any drop in quality from The Smiths to Morrissey's solo career with other guitar players. I think he played really nice, appropriate stuff for the songs, but that his fame is inherited from Morrissey.
Morrissey is awesome and i love his solo stuff , but The Smiths wouldn't be The Smiths without Marr.
Thanks for that. I'd thought it was just me.singemonkey wrote: I love The Smiths, but I've never found Johnny Marr that inspiring. No. They'd just have been a slightly different vehicle for Morrissey's incredible talents ?G wrote: Morrissey is awesome and i love his solo stuff , but The Smiths wouldn't be The Smiths without Marr.
Different strokes - the reason I never listened to The Smiths was Morrissey. ?
i must admit tho that Morrissey's lyrics is what got me hooked on The Smiths in the first place. ?
When Marr was trumpeted as a guitar hero back in the day I didn't get it... but it is starting to dawn on me, if only for some awesome stretches. The best thing about him I find is his open approach to music...
