Hi People!
My guitar has been giving problems lately. At first, I got a crackling noise when the cable shifted. This is obviously a connection problem in the jack itself (I sort of stepped on the cable one day and turned around, breaking the jack plate and probably bending the plug, oops). Today however, I plugged it in and it started making this intermittent noise. It almost sounds like the sound of a computer hardrive when its reading. I switched amps and cables but the noise stays. It goes away if I turn all the volume and tone knobs to 0. This has now reached the point where I'm willing to have it replaced with something better. I see on various forums the switchcraft mono jack is good. Does anyone here know of this or is there a different heavy duty jack I can get?
The guitar needs a fret dress/replacement/something too, think it still has its original frets from 1995 and they are starting to look a little beaten.
Is there one place/person in Cape Town I can contact who will give my axe the TLC she needs?
Cheers!

Switchcraft jacks are the best ones to use IMO, unless you're willing to have a larger hole made for a locking Neutrik.

Thank you Alan for recommending Foster van der Merwe. He replaced my frets, nut and installed a new T-O-M bridge and a new jack. I cannot believe the difference. Its fantastic now!
