teaching guitar/bass/composition/theory for 2010 ........by keira witherkay

hello all,

just letting everyone know it seems i will be staying in jhb and not travelling off to some exotic country as i been doing most of my life and am setting up my teaching practise ..... based in both midrand(Jhb) and now also in Pretoria....... these are 2 fixed venues but i've had many requests by people not able to travel to me ...and i now offer a third option of me travelling to the students and depending on your area once a week i do a day in a various area..... this is done at no extra cost as long as there are other students nearby also taking lessons..........

so yeah ... i teach guitar ..all styles /theory / composition and also bass .......

as for my background and qualifications i studied double bass and composition back in the 80's toured the world as a double bassist and electric bassist in all genre's jazz/rock/pop , then in 90's switched to guitar and played the international hotel scene for over 10 years ........ as an electric lead guitarist ....... then in last years i have specialised myself as an acoustic fingerstyle guitarist focusing on multi part playing technique where i play bass lines/chords /melody /solo and do percussion on one instrument simultaneously . i have a solid background in composition and have an original album of world music out at moment ....... and have written soundtracks for film and documentaries....... and performance wise... i have since 1985 been a pro musician performing live and doing session work....... and currently perform consistantly in jhb ........ so not just teaching but "doing" it too and my teaching experience is also decades long as i teach where ever in the world i happen to be performing too........

so now i have decided at least for this year not to return to europe but to stay in jhb/Pta area so anyone interested in lessons contact me.......

I suppose as soon as you can get gigs and lessons together that pay for the plane ticket, the rental car, the hotel and the food ?

mmmm i might do a CT tour later this year ......... but as gearhead said only once i set up paying gigs....... to cover the expenses....... but i have to admit my focus is keeping me in jhb at moment i have gigs booked and obviously the teaching practise that i am growing needs my attention till it's nicely up and running ......

but yeah might be there sometime.......but not long enough to stay and teach any regular lessons... but if i come down i could maybe organise a "workshop" that could be fun

We can discuss a rate per quarter hour that you overrun.

yeah i teach after hours..... and i do travel on certain days to area's away from my home base's which is i have one venue in midrand (glen austin) and one in pretoria where i teach from ... then you can decide which suits you better ...... however if i travel out i would only do it if there is more than one student in that area....... but in reality it seems to be working out well...

and i already teach one lefty so no prob...
