I heard the original so can only associate Wuthering Heights with Kate Bush.
Any part that doesn't sound like her then sounds wrong to me.

I have no idea why I like this song so much. It gets me straight in the centre of my being. I love music like this. I think Kate's vocals were better but I guess I preferred Hayley Westenra's band more.

The problem with Hayley Westenra's version is that it's not a version or an interpretation, it's an imitation. She's using Kate Bush's arrangement and trying to execute the vocal lines as Kate Bush would, so she just ends up sounding like a poor imitation of Kate Bush.

The UOGB avoided that trap.

Could be... she is rather attractive, especially here..

then again so is Hayley. (how many videos were made?)

I actually think I am drawn to the dynamic changes in the song. The triplets she sings add to it, I've always found different "timings" between the vocals and rythym section interesting. If you know what I mean there.
I also like what feels like desparation in the way she sings this song. It is a great performance all round.

Also Duffy with Warwick Avenue has good emotion for me.

Yep. Songs can pack real power. When the song and the delivery and the arrangement all come together things get really good.

Interesting. Something very obvious from the Kate Bush videos is that she was a great studio singer and a great lip sync artist on stage. That gives her time to worry about pulling the right faces on stage and not caring about hitting the notes. Hayley actually pulled it off singing it on-stage. That was Wow.
