Any goals? ambitions? 2010

Well specifically guitar related and not resolutions. I've been doing this guitar thing for nearly a year now and I plan that in this year I will:
i) submit to the Forum compos (when I get a recording tool thing ie.)
ii) get my cute little ass over to an open mic somewhere and gooi a toon or two.

Yep, I've got a few goals.

1. Study metal - increase my speed - learn shredding, tapping etc.
2. Put in two hours singing practice every day (widen my range)
3. Market our band better to get more paying gigs
4. Advertise to get more students
5. Acquire a keyboard with midi capability
6. Market my music writing abilities to advertising agencies.

All are achievable - just need to stop procrastinating - particularly on the marketing side.

Mine would be to practice more scales.
I would also like to write more songs and learn to compose proper music for the songs.
Start a band, I already have a guitarist/vocalist (His previous band played at the Wacken open air in Germany).

Non guitar related: I want to finish my post grad degree this year, bench press 100kg, run a half marathon, start doing muay thai again and drink less beer and more vodka.

Similar thing for me - find a collaborator who knows what they are doing musically ('cos I don't), and get some original music on the go. Even if it's a remote collaboration thing...

Damnit! I'd love to start Muay Thai again. Couldn't stand my old coach any more. But the wing-nut at Dragonpower reckons I only want to join to spy for my old coach ??? (martial arts coaches are nuts. Every one of them. Don't let anyone tell you different. Why can't they just accept that it's a freaking sport, not a religious cult? That's how they treat it in Thailand.) Grrr!

I want to get good at guitar for the first time in my life, complete a few more songs necessary for playing some really good shows at the end of the year. I want to do some solo/duet shows before then to make sure all the songs work and that I'm accustomed to playing live again.

There are a lot of skills I need to get firmly under my belt first: Rockabilly hybrid picking, blues slide, blues Travis picking, blues lead playing. And of course there's all that music theory. Luckily the lessons I'm taking with Rene will give me an extra boost.

Also I want to learn some new performance, and production design chops, so that the show keeps people's attention glued throughout.
