Anybody heard some of their stuff yet? John Paul Jones on bass, Dave Grohl on drums and Josh Hommes on guitar - should be interesting...

Funny I am listening to them right now, they are so great I was so excited a few months back when I heard them. Josh Homme pretty much makes any music turn to gold.

I am surprised at the lack of response considering that this any member of this band has more talent in his left pinky toe than the whole of the g3 crew combined. ?

Awesome music. A little on the different side for most people, but that's part of the point IMO. Also enjoying the Dead Weather (with Jack White on drums) at the moment. Different is good. ?
Two 'supergroups" that produce music that sounds different and somewhat original, instead of trying to show what amazing musicians they are by playing as fast and as many notes in rapid succession as possible.

yay good stuff. is jack on drums in dead weather
IceCreamMan
getting great reviews, will be picking up a copy this weekend i reckon

Yeah Jack White is on the Drums in the Dead Weather. If you've heard his drumming in the James Bond Quantam of Solace song, "Another Way to Die", then you have some idea of his drumming style already - which is very good. Apparently he was a drummer before he ever picked up the guitar and his drumming ability is quite evident in The Dead Weather. He isn't exactly Manu Katche or Vinnie Colaiuta, but his playing is still pretty good.

Horehound is my album of the year.
Them Crooked Vultures I've had since day of release and it gets better with every listen... unfortunately the mixing and general production doesn't... that said, Scumbag Blues will be on rotation for a long long time.

I've got it, but I haven't started listening to it yet. Sounds like I should.

Just try to ignore the fact that they recorded in an underwater echo chamber.

personally I like this production wise, its very typical of josh homme, take a listen to any of the desert sessions, our era vulgaris, or even the new artic monkeys Humbug, all similar as it was in his desert studio, in California

Which is why I'm struggling with the Arctic Monkeys, hearing he produced almost put me off getting the album. It works for some songs on there like "Propeller" but otherwise... it's better suited to his earlier stuff like Kyuss (and even then!!). Songs for the Deaf has bright, clear production and IMHO adds to its rep as QOTSA's best album.

I guesse its weird how differant people like diff albums, I disliked the cleaner production stuff for qotsa and artic monkeys, I quite like the dirty distorted clipping thing they do, however could get old soon, you cant do the same trick ten times and expect an amazing reaction. But yeh for now I really like it.

Just got the album yesterday and listened to the whole thing and I have to say I'm loving immensely. The stand out track for me is 'Elephants'. Sonically simliar to Led Zep's 'Kashmir'. QOTSA and Led Zep are possibly my two favourite bands, so this group fits my sound pallette perfectly.
IceCreamMan
The more i am playing this album the more i am enjoying it ... its a great album
each influence is discernable ...
peters
A bit of Led Zep there ? will download a sound sample
IceCreamMan
i am going to stick my neck out and say that i think this is the best project/collaboration/album of any of the zep members. every time i twirl this album i like it more
MIKA-the-better-one
Ile second that, I dont think any collab's by them have been any good till this one :/
