I've been having problems with my pedal recently and can't get it to work right. So if you step on it, like you usually do to switch it on, nothing happens, no light comes on, nothing! Although if I open it and press the button from the inside, it works... My older brother who is quite great with electrical repairs tried to fix it, it worked! For 5 minutes... and then it was back to not working again! Does anyone have some advice for me?

If it works when you press the switch on the circuit board, I'd start looking around the mechanical part of the switch. Maybe it's gummed up, so is not pressing the switch properly?
SimoneMeyer
Hmm... Could be! Let me go check it out

Are you shure you had both input and output cables in else the light would not shine, the metalzone does this.Maybe you had it plugged in when he "fixed" it.

Also check if the cable is working. If there is a lose connection at the jack plugs. I dont think it will work.
Correct me if im wrong
SimoneMeyer
Yeah, both input and output cables are in, my battery is fine, and so is my cables. I checked that first

Then alans idea is most probably the problem. The mechanical switch isnt connecting with the electronic switch on the pc board.

Something else just occurred to me. Perhaps there are cracks in the circuitboard or a dry joint somewhere - when you push down with a foot, the circuitboard flexes and some of the tracks break contact. When you do it by hand, the board is not rigid and you are applying very little pressure.
I think if it's not something obvious like that, it's time to let a tech look at it.

If it is a dry joint then it can still be fixed.
I know that sparkies have a spray that they used that somehow shows up dry joints. It's then just a question of re-soldering the point.

I had that problem with my SD-2. The switch was busted. Cost me something like R50 at TOMS to get it replaced. If you're lucky thats the problem. Otherwise keep a look out on the junkmail. You might be able to pick a second hand one up for under R500. I've been through 3 already.

Thanx guys! I'll let my brother check it out, I suck with electronics! Just jam guitar, lol.
