I now own 2 Tube Screamers, TS10 and a TS9. The TS10 has the JRC sought after opamp in it the TS9 (which is a re-issue) does not. Im pondering canablising the TS10 for the opamp and then doing the two extra resistors (apparently) that make the TS9 differ from an 808.

Is it worth it? Could you swop the two opamps so the TS10 functions fine and can go sleep in its box in the drawer?

Hey Nick,

I wouldn't do it. The JRC's can still be bought for R10-R20 a piece, I'd rather put the TS10 up for sale on Gumtree and keep the TS9. While swapping the resistors and opamp will get you and 808 I think the limitations are the caps and voicings, which I would swap out.

Where would one source an opamp? Ebay? Something like this?

The opamp in my TS10 says 4558D JRC 6127, that one says 4558D JRC J016A.

Nick , mantech in thornton keep the jrc opamps , i actually have 2 in my box of goodies , if i find them before i leave tommorow , you welcome to them . And they do sound different to the lm range

Actually found the one the number on it is 4558d jrc 8270b .. Its packaged and in my suitcase ....
