Finally we have someone selling pickups online locally: www.tonerider.co.za We've spoken about the Tonerider pickups before, and the agency is now being handled by André Meyer (some of the CT members will know him already from the band Late Final), who also plans to move into other parts, hardware and spares (up to and including necks and bodies) over the next year.

I bought some pickups from Andre this weekend. Had a great chat and he is a very nice guy.
The website is also very reliable with good delivery turnaround he assures me.

Haven't installed the new pups yet as i am still building my guitar!

I'm also very keen to hear the outcome of this one as I'm looking at PUP replacement options in an Ibby AFS-75T. Recon Rebel-90's will be cheaper than TV Jones...... ?

i got a set of vintage strat pups last week and had them fitted on the weekend - absolutely blown away..,, best money ever spent!!!

will be back for more next week after pay day !!

All I can say is....

Remember, P90s have two mags to swap :? So you can always tweak it a touch if you're not mad about it.

GAS won.......I got a set of Alnico iv in black and put them into my Ibby ARC300 over the weekend.....

Oh Wow....... ?....super nice both clean and OD.......

Neck is very full with lots of clean, well defined Bass....yet very open with nice note separation.....
Bridge.....lots of sparkle yet not OTT or harsh. Sounds fantastic on crunch settings.....leads come through nice and clean.....

I also found these have much more sustain than the standard Ibby PUPs. Also a lot more picking detail......almost too much on high gain settings....

This is the black set so I also noticed these are a little more noisy at high gain settings than the nickle covered Ibby PUP's. Noise does cancell out in the middle position.

They also have a higher output over the std PUPs as well.

I got set of Tonerider Pure Vintage pickups for the Strat I built.

My experience of different pickups is limited, but I am unbelievably impressed with the sound these produce.
Nicer still is that it is exactly the kind of sound I was looking for.

An unexpected surprise is the really distinctively different tones I get in each of the 5 switch positions.

Just ordered a pair of Zebra Alnico IV's. Can't wat to get them installed. They're going into my Ibanez SZ520QM ?

When you've got them fitted let us know what it sounds like. I'm a Tonerider too fan and have been eying the A IV set for a while myself!

I have Alnico IV in my Ibby and love them. Far smoother than the stock Ibby HB's that came with the guitar. They're also a bit hotter.

I'm contemplating the Rocksong set. The specs look just right for me, alnico 2 magnets and 12k bridge seems like a hot item considering what they're going for. I already have some generators and alnico 4's that are just fab.

I know this thread is already loooong but does anyone have any kind of review on them?

I'm a convert too. The Rocksong is in my opinion their best humbucker set. The bridge is just right and not too powerful. I had the stock pickups in an Ibanez ART600 replaced with a set of Rocksongs and I was amazed with the result. Much better than the original actives that was too overpowering and in your face "metalish" The Rocksongs has the best balance and tone. I think someone mentioned earlier on this thread that they achieved an excellent Van Halen sound with them and I have to agree. Personally I just don't like the name "Rocksong".

It's a parts guitar with which I'm told is a washburn mahogany body and an ibanez neck that I don't know from which guitar it came from originally but it looks Jem-ish, but with dots. Bought it on junk mail. The scale length is perfect and the two go together pretty nice. Pickups screw into the body and there's also a Floyd licensed whammy that's still in excellent shape.

I like the generators with the alnico 5 magnets but I want to go just a tad lower output with this project. The guitar is nice and light and maybe the rocksong set will be perfect.

Any other thoughts would be welcome!

Rocksong bridge is the least fav bucker I have ever used. I would recommend anything else but the a4 most highly

I have used Toneriders in 2 of guitars now , first my ibby SA series guitar an the difference was like day an night ...the Toneriders were a fantastic fantastic improvement over stock ...best money i could of spent on it...

then i put em in my strat which already had vastly better pups than my ibby anyway and i like the difference it made ...i owuld hesitate to call it better as this would be subjective but they better for what i want my tone to be so i am happy as the proverbial piggy

in both cases the transaction has been painless with the pups delivered to my door within 24 hours of me pressing the send button at the site

I just had the opposite experience. I love the Rocksong bridge. Its like a seriously hot-rodded PAF with a2 magnets as mentioned above. I have one in an HSS config in a Strat - beautiful! ?
