I'm in two minds really. Wishbone Ash and Deep Purple two of the bands that I have really enjoyed listening to way back. But will they be what I dug? I took a listen to the new thing by Tony Iomi (spellin?) because I like Black Sabbath but not an inch of it sorted me. And I really dont want to pay the money and make the effort just to see the flesh if it is not producing for the ears what I used to like and still do.

I kind of get what you mean. But I think paying the money and going to a live show is also a chance to see the band live in front of your
very eyes. Sabbath was a HUGE influence on my guitar playing. If they ever had to come to S.A, I would pay the money to watch them.
And even if they played a whole bunch of new tracks which I didn't fancy, Its still a mark of respect for all the years of
good music they provided my ears to listen to. (War Pigs, Sabbath bloody sabbath, Black sabbath, NIB, the wizard)
Does anybody know if Richie Blackmore is still in the Deep Purple line up?
Squonk
@ Ray
I dont think you should give this a miss.
This might not come around again, seeing that all these guys are very close to Rock and Roll Pension ?
Alan gave Deep Purple and Uriah Heep good reviews when they were here last.
Steve Morse is also a good reason to go, He replaced Blackmore in Deep Purple, and is one of the best guitarists out there.
Wishbone Ash, good reviews on the Internet.
This is compulsory for all guitarists ?
Squonk
@ AJB
Blackmore is long gone, but has a worthy successor in Steve Morse.
Like I said compulsory for guitarists ?

Steve Morse????
Im there like a bear

Andrew, are you driving to JHB, Durb's or CPT?
andrewjbryson
KaapStad! ?
Ray
Ja well, doesnt look like there's an option then. Also, told the laaities and they just sort of assumed that I was going and funding their excursion as well. And to think first time they heard it was when I played it to them. Could be worse, I am also sort of being dragged to world cup game or two, I believe, and I dont even understand the Association game.
Ray
Just looking at the floor plan on computicket. I wonder if I'll make it thru standing. Other wise they must jus klet me bring my walker in with me.

@joel
I know who Steve Morse is , and the same goes for Dixie Dregs
Just can't believe he is playing for D.P now.
Yes , he is an incredible player.
Riaan
Great news indeed, I will definitely be there! Maybe Greame can invite Steve Morse over for a Graemestock while he's in Cape Town... ?
