I am still planning all the wonderfull little mods I want to make to my gear when I have time again in the new year. I have a SD Pearly gates neck and a SD Sn-59bridge pup lying around, both black. Will it be possible to buy Gold pickup coversfor these pickups so I can replace the stock pups on my Ibanez AJD91c? How do these covers work?
The other option is to get Toneriders, specifically the AlnicoII set, for the Ibby. Any suggestions?

It's possible to get and fit covers, it just takes a big ass soldering iron to solder them to the baseplate. Ideally you pot the pickup quickly after fitting the cover, but actually not essential unless you are playing very high gain stuff.
Just make sure you get the right cover - there are three different polepiece spacings for humbuckers:
Vintage PAF - 1-15/16" - 49.2mm
Modern/Asian/metric - 50mm
F-Spaced - 2-1/16" - 53mm
