The first Band to feauture a twin guitar attack, had many different lineups but still going today

I am Listening to their "Live Dates" album from the early 70's, but they did some brilliant albums even in the 80's.

Pavlovs Dog, I battled with at first with David Surkamp's vocals, but I think any decent rock fan from the 70's had to have a copy of "Pampered Menial' in his collection ?

I never understood that claim. I'd have thought that The Yardbirds or The Allman Brothers has better claims. Even the Stones were about two guitars working together, though they didn't really have a clear "lead" guitarist until Mick Taylor came on board.

When was Abbey Road recorded? That had John, George and Paul all trading guitar solos on one track.

There's lots of nostalgic avenues to explore from the early 70s. Barclay James Harvest. Audience. Caravan. Camel.

I remember having a liking for Caravan at one time, but I think it was mostly because their lyrics were occasionally on the naughty side.

I think this claim is more to do with the twin lead attack, it wasn't trading licks, or two guitarists playing different parts.
It's two guitars playing independant melody lines together that create a big fat sound.

I think Eric and Duanne did do this first in Derek and the Dominos.

Caravan , they were quite naughty. didn't that have an Album called Cunning Stunts? The nostlagia has overtaken me today. Caravan was stored in a definate off-site memory.

Yissi! You okes know your stuff hey. But anyway, I liked that two guitar thing except I sort of wondered if it wouldnt be OK for one guitar to play it because it sounded just like two harmonizing notes and you got 4 sometimes 5 fingers to do the job anyway. I went to see Wishbone Ash years after at Sun City when they came here with Nazareth who I alos really liked plenty but only Razamanaz really. Listened to Wishbone Ash and it was OK but when Nazareth came on I ducked because the singer was struggling.

Me too... wishbone ash and nazareth double header ..
