Quick question: If you don't want twang, why are you considering Tele? It's the definitive Tele sound and comes through just about anything you do with the guitar.
I don't mind the twang, I like the way it sounds on a slightly darker amp. I just don't want to accentuate it to the point that country is all I can play with the thing! ?

"Twang" is a bit of a relative term anyway. Because it's the definitive Tele sound, everyone makes a point of claiming that their pickups retain it or accentuate it.
Hmmm, I see says the blind guitarist! So I shouldn't pay too much attention to the marketing speak...

Go hotter if you want - it'll obviously change the tone of the guitar and generally make it a bit darker, which will reduce the twang a little (but not make it disappear altogether). Putting in a P90ish design bridge pickup will give you a much fatter midrange and smoother top end, but you'll still keep much of the tone of a Tele too.
Yes Yes that's what I need! Could you recommend a pickup to look at or a company that makes good ones? What do you think about these?
