I don't know if many people have heard this particular song off of EJ's "Ah via Musicom" album. His clean sound and his violin like tone just make me want to burst out in tears :'(
Roscoe Beck kicks ass on the bass in this video (which is quite differentc from the album version)
Watch for the touched harmonics (somewhere in the middle) and the violin like volume swells during Roscoe Beck's solo.
Beautiful stuff

This is the song that got me hooked on EJ.
Brilliant tune, brilliant everything.
Roscoe Beck is the champion!
They dont call Eric the Tone Ranger for nothing
This is off the "Live in Austin" DVD and eric is doing his best Simom Le Bon (Duran Duran)

@ Donovan : Yeah, its such an awesome piece of music!
@ Squonk : Thanks for that bit of info. I love his Austin City Limits stuff as well. True, they don't call him the toneranger for nothing.
I once read an interview of his in Guitar Technique's 1997 or 98, where they tease him about the fact that he favours Duracell batteries and that he can hear when a battery start losing power even before it actually does.

Got this on the Austin album. Love it - one of my favourite tracks. Really dig EJ - he's so awesome!

Actually, I have this live concert on MP3. I have a theory about EJ: he mumbles on purpose. I think he's shy or something. Just before he does a Jimi Hendrix number, he mumbles an entire intro but does it so fast and so deep under his breath that you can just barely pick up "jmi hndrx" and then he starts the song ?
eMusic.com, by the way, is awesome for downloading some of these guys stuff for a good price. And it's very legal.

He is very shy - especially for a Texan ?

A nice tribute to Wes Montgomery.
Isn't that Kyle Brock on bass?
arjunmenon
Sharp eyes Bob. That is Kyle Brock.
Apologies
