Great movie, loved it! I'm the "sweetie" oomie!
We have a friend that we started calling a prawn after this movie!
He likes his new nickname 8)

It's a great movie. I really enjoyed it. I love the way they made it seem so real, so South African!

Check this out, some people just don't know when to stop. http://wikus.co.za/

I thought it was crap, special effects were ok, but the rest was pretty crap imho.

Also a huge fan ? Loved seeing SA in the limelight. Hollywood + SA is a lot of fun, especially with all of the fokken fok fok fokking going on ?

Just saw it tonight. Very impressive. Very weird seeing something so sci-fi that is also so completely and uniquely South African.

They reckon its a SA film on an American budget ... makes you think how a lot of our movies could look if they had had the right amount of backing. There are so many bad American movies being made - money wasted on absolute trash.

Loved District 9! My wife and I were so impressed. Can't wait to see Invictus.

I really loved District 9... It was really funny on top of it a South African way ? And it's got a great, fresh story. Nothing like it before.

The second one should be a cracker too! Hopefully it comes sooner rather than later.

I totally enjoyed it, the humour was brilliant. The guy who played Wickus was excellent.
But I am also sure there is a lot happening in this film that you could speculate on.
The signs "humans only", When Wickus has to get the Prawns to sign the forced removal documents, there is definitely references to past regimes etc. But it was so cleverly done.

I think South African will get the movie better than others.

But I loved it.

Wickus the actor will now play in a remake of "The A-Team".
Can't remember who he will be playing, but the movie did wonders for his career!

Was in high school with Charlto Copley - nice guy. He's playing Howlin' Mad Murdoch!

You were in school with the sweetie oomie? Scary!!!

Really proud that it was filmed here even though I havent seen it yet. Bit perplexed that we only heard about it once it was released - surely such a big film should have been creating a buzz when it was being made?

i really enjoyed it too, awesome flick but also very poignant.

Suppose that would make me the not-so-sweet oomie ?

I think it was a great leap in the right direction. It takes something special to knock a Hollywood 'blockbuster' clean out of the box office on opening weekend.
For those that don't know what I'm on about, District 9 trumped G.I.Joe on opening weekend in Hollywood itself.

It's formed a great platform from which to launch an attack. Invictus will be closely monitored as will The Race-ist (www.race-ist.co.za)

I also really enjoyed it. A movie to be proud of.

This makes Joe Pesci look like a pussycat! He was the previous master of vloeking in movies - IMO he's been toppled ?
