What should i do?

Heya, so i got a second hand zoom 505ii, thing is, i dont know how to set it up?ive always just played clean, so im pretty clueless! my amp has an effect input and output at the back as well as an effect prescence knob, if someone can just guide me plz? thanx

505II is a good buy for your first foray into the world of effects.

It is pretty intuitive to use. Each patch (e.g. A1) can be set to incorporate one effect from each module (Drive, Mod, Amp, etc.)

Best to start with A1, and use the rotary knob to move between modules. Use the up and down keys to adjust parameters in each module, when you've gone through everything and you like what you hear, hit store twice. Just remember to move the knob back to the PLAY position. You can then do the same for each patch, maybe make A1 your clean patch, A2 crunch and A3 lead. Perhaps delay on A4?

Keep in mind that with the Mod position, pressing the + and - keys together allows you to jump from one effect to another quicker than scrolling through F1, F2, F3, etc. (each successive number for an effect equals more intensity, from about 6 onwards it starts adding chorus as well.)

i would also forget about the FX loop for now , run a cable from your guitar to the 505 input and another cable from the output to the amp input .

Hey guys, thanx, but something is wrong!ive found that the cable from the out jack of the pedal is giving me problems, if i put a cable fully into the jack,no sound or a buzzing comes thru, but if i only push it half way,the pedals sound comes thru to the amp! it has to be the jack!wat can i do?

Have you tried swapping the cables around? Sometimes different jacks have the contacts in shifted along slightly, which is why it is shorting when you push it in all the way.
