MI AUDIO CRUNCH BOX DAMN NOISY

Ok firstly MI AUDIO is my new favourite pedals. they damn excellent in terms of tone and size (where pedal board real-estate is needed)

My problem is that i am finding it EXTREMELY NOISY when engaged (that pedal hum when you not playing).
I know its a drive pedal. I am running alot of drive about 75%. BUT i have never come across such a noisy pedal.
I didnt think it would do that considering its such an expensive little pedal.

I am using a boss power supply (red label one) and a daisy chain from that to my few pedals. My NS2 doesnt sort out the HUM unless i run the CRUNCHBOX in the NS2 loop but then the tone goes bad and i get a craizy volume swell which is terrible.

any ideas?solutions?

Seeing as we have similair gear, you running it on the clean channel of your peavey and the crunch box volume half way, mids half way and drive about 3/4? I'll try tonight and see but I dont recall it being awfully noisy, I generally run it just under 50% drive.

What guitar are you playing through the pedal..is it with a particular guitar or with all of your guitars?

The Crunch Box is a high gain pedal and 75% drive is a LOT OF GAIN....... ?

One of our guitarists at church has one with his strat and it gets noisy at anything above about 25% gain......but as Matt puts it....its good hum.... ? ? ?

I used to eaxperience the same thig with my dirty rat, I reckon you may be able to shut it up a bit if you run off of a pedal power, more efficiant power should help. My rig got a whole lot quiter in general. How many effects are running of the daisy chain?

Try it on a 9V battery, it will quickly tell you if the noise/hum is line associated or not. My guess is that it is just a high gain pedal, which are inherintly noisy... every heard a Metal Muff? It is insanely noisy...

thanks guys. I tried it with multiple guitars (4) and removed it from my pedal chain aswell. I never thought of the 9V battery option. I will test it, that sounds like a good idea...dont know why i never thought about that.

Perhaps when i use the pedal at band prac/gigs then i can actually run the drive lower. at bedroom levels generally my pedals character seems to be extremely different. (i run the classic 30 on volume 2. band prac @ 5 volume level)

All this mission because my 6505+ has SUCH A unusable clean channel. But its drive is SO GOOD. so hence i am using a smaller rig (also easier to cart around)

Instead of spending money on the Crunch box you could have used the cash towards making the 6505+ sound better with more headroom and a cleaner clean channel... just a thought...

I DEFINATELY THOUGHT OF THAT, but i have never heard a modified one and was worried i commit to getting it modded and the result is something that i am not happy with/didnt picture in my head?

i am still keen on sorting that beast up abit

Right, MI Audio Crunch Box, Vol 50% Tone 50% Gain 75% on my Strat, middle pickup, amp on 1.75 odd, 2 is too loud ?

Theres a hum but I wouldnt call it insanely loud, could easily speak over it and it pales in comparison to how loud the guitar is out of the amp, if that makes any sense.
