I'd tell you, but I'd have to kill you... Hah Hah, just kidding! Alot of the time the problem lies with 'dirty' power and the ground scheme used. With audio we like use a star ground scheme to avoid loops/ground potential differences etc, this is something that only a qualified electrician can do, nobody should be playing in a DB without certification, esp. if you want your insurance to pay out should something go wrong.
Another thing is to check the polarity of your wall sockets, you can buy an ECB checker at most electronic store which will show you if your sockets are all wired to code, it is amazing how many are not and there are times when even at the DB board...
One of the biggest problems is also radiated EMF from things like downlighters etc, if you are going to use them use 230V ones, not the LV 12V ones, they have an inductive coils that is as noisy as all heck, even the new 'digital' ones are no good, trust me, we have them in the house because my wife wanted them... they make recording guitar near impossible with single coils... but then again power conditioning will not help that either.
Cheers
Matt

Ok, one last thing on power filtering... it fixes a symptom NOT the cause... I understand that in some cases it is impractical to fix the cause, i.e gigging in a club with poor line voltage/grounding scheme's etc, but sometimes the fixes can be made for less than the cost of the filter/conditioner device and will give you clean power through out your house, not just the socket(s) on the filter/conditioner.
And how exactly do you make that fix Matt?
