And I hate it when people compare a real guitar to that stupid guitar hero game.
Some pople might consider an accoustic guitar a real guitar compared to electric guitars(I said that just to shake things up a bit).
I think as time progresses we see things in a different light. Bob was speaking about spectacles and showbiz. Back in the day that's what opera was. Generally the subject matter was coarse toilet humour and there were lots of bizare costumes. You can maybe even say that they were trying to shock people by singing the way they did/ do. Today you're considered cultured if you like it.
I listen to a lot of "ambient" music, I guess that's electronic in the way that it's not just instruments you're listening to, but the sound of waves, for instance, is incorporated into the song. I realy do consider "electronic" music a viable medium for creativity, largely because I don't have a symphony orchestra at my disposal. If I one day do, bully for me. Right now there's a song I'm listening to with bird calls in it, I think it's truely beautiful.
Back to the topic, I do think you can create an interesting ensemble with electronic music. It would be even more interesting if someone was mixing it live, but yes, if it's just "kareoke" then it would be a bit disappionting.
