One of our tracks has just been included on a progressive rock compilation cd!

Hi everyone,

I'd like to share the fact that one of our songs from our next album has been included on a progressive rock compilation cd entitled "Slowly from the South"

This track was recorded, mixed and produced in Sonar.

Name of the band is Off the Edge and the track is entitled "Grandfather Time".

The version was version 6.2 at he time. I'm now on 8.21.

I'm an old Cakewalk/Sonar user. Love it.

Great everything! Wonderful production, arrangement and recording. Nice to hear a band who understand dynamics and who leave space for each other.

Of particular note:
Nice pad under the chimes - blends perfectly
Wonderful acoustic tone
Lovely understated Hammond work - nice control over the leslie speed (real Hammond?)
Great piano tone
Nice vocalist

The only (small) things I can comment on:
The character of all the vocal tracks is a bit too "samey" for me - I'd like to hear a few different mics/ambient spaces used.
There's a synth cello part comes in at one point that's a bit fake and jars with the otherwise smooth production.

Alan, yes that is a real Hammond C3 with a Leslie. I think that Dave is one of the nicest Hammond players around.

Production excellent as per usual.
Got to agree about Dave Sharp being Mr C3, I love his Hammond work, and a great guitarist as well.

I need to get my "Site under construction" CD out and give it a listen, some awesome tracks on that CD.

Incidently Alan, I've posted a better example of Dave's Hammond work. This was a track from our 2004 album entitled "Site Under Construction" The album was recorded at my studio but the Hammond was tracked at Dave's place.

If you like Hammonds, then I think you'll enjoy this. The songs called "Taking it to the Extemes"
