Well I was asked what I based my statement on right?
For the record - the guitar with the "finish" was a new Robert Johnson L-1 - a Gibson, and it was very expensive, and I was very disappointed at the lack of a better word. I have also seen a similar issue with finish over spray and finish lifting on a new sunburst J-45 between the finger board and the neck. I actually had both in my hands and played them. The (then) rep up here Dennis, was the one that showed the L-1 to me in the shop, and he agreed to my issue but justified it by its "great sound" and that it was a demo - like any good salesman would ?
I'm not knocking Gibson, in fact I love some of the (acoustic) models I've played and mentioned on this board, and if the right one came up at the right price, I'll consider buying it like any other that I might fancy.
I don't think it will be a new one though - I still maintain judging by the latest (acoustics) I've seen they're not living up the their reputation. There are countless reviews on the web to support this. Here's just one of 3300 hits on "Gibson guitar"+"quality issues"

I don't believe I need to own one to comment on just because other folks say I should.
That concludes what I have to say on this matter.
Vic I'm glad you're happy with yours, I know there are countless other owners who are too and I'm ok with that. I'm also ok with it that other (electric) folks prefer "The Heritage" from Kalamazoo because they're made by the "same old folks in the old factory like they used to".
