OK All. Here are the entries for our second birthday theme competition. Please vote for your favourite entry in each category You have two votes. Use them wisely. ? BEGINNERS CDee wrote Here's my attempt at a GFSA theme. Had to rush it so it's not as rounded as I'd hoped. :-[ http://www.box.net/shared/9sk8ecit6d DonovanB wrote I almost feel like not entering here after reading all the info on the last theme... but I'll take it as practice... I tried to go for a choir of guitars at the end. I guess I better brush up on my soloing and I left out drums deliberately, although I reckon they may have made a difference (not to mention some decent guitaring...) oh, and for the record I used 6 guitars in all... http://www.box.net/shared/gliqdihjk0 D-Man wrote I don't have any recording equipment so I used guitar pro. Hey everybody, it's great to have won the competition. - And congrats to Donovan.

I must offer a few thank you's:
To everybody who voted for my entry
To Alan for arranging the prizes
And to musicmadness for sponsoring the prizes. Matt, I look forward to seeing what the Zoom G2 can do.

CDee - I will post my comments later - I'm a little busy right now 'though - I don't want to just shoot from the hip and would rather give a considered response.

Thanks everyone for making this an awesome forum - all the best over the festive season.

Ja Pete it looks like Durban cleaned up here... ?

Thanks for the votes guys. It's a nice Christmas present for me. These competitions are hot stuff and they make for really good practice in being creative, recording and playing techniques and presentation of music. for those that don't enter, I recommend you do if you can.

Manfred don't tell me you didn't vote for yourself? It reminds me of the local elections a few years back, the results came in and one runner for counsellor had 1 vote. Not even his wife or mother voted for him. I felt so bad for the oke but I still can't help laughing at how little confidence his own family showed in him. I wonder why they didn't just try talk him out of running?

Squonk

Durban did indeed cleanup

@ Don - your entry was good stuff, you really mixed a whole bunch of sounds and styles together ?

I might just add here that I was born in Durban, Addington Hospital ?

LOL so was I. I even met someone who was born on the same day in Addington as me.

Yup. They were the only ones who stepped up to the plate on this - the others either didn't want to share the spotlight with other retailers or procrastinated and then said "it's too late now". I'm all for supporting those who support us.

A HUGE, HUGE thank you to Alan & Matt for making this competition work! It's a kak-load of work, organising something like this. And LOTS can go wrong (and normally does ?).

If it wasn't for you 2, this wouldn't have happened. Matt - you're awesome for sponsoring these prizes! I agree with Alan 100%: We'll support those who support us!

I can't thank you both enough and, of course, the entrants (congrats Pete! I loved your entry ? and I think it'll do wonders to promote the forum to new visitors!!) and everyone who voted. Again: a competition isn't as easy as it looks, so thanks for whatever role you played. I was too busy to contribute anything meaningful so that's why I sound like a stuck record in thanking everyone for what you did ?

Can someone email me Pete's entry so I can upload it as the theme song once I have a gap? Need it in my email or, with my current workload, I'll end up forgetting.

Humbly and gratefully,
Me ?

AlanRatcliffe

I'll PM you the link.

Manfred-Klose

Manfred don't tell me you didn't vote for yourself?

no, i dont vote for myself ?

PeteM

Going to have a lot fun today working this one out.

NorioDS

Pete - well done on an awesome entry. Your theme makes GFSA seem all professional and stuff ?

DonovanB
