Wow that Mission amp is a nice hand me down! Replacing the caps and power supply diodes should get you closer to the original sound before the smoke left the tranny. Interesting that they didn't use semiconductor grade fuses in the output channels.
I still use my old Arcam stuff. The CD player is brilliant. No sound card I have used can get close to the beautiful soundstage that the old player puts out. I also have NAD 3020i and 3020e amps stored on my shelves that are not used for the same reason as Alan pointed out above.
