608961. which would
seem to indicate it's an august '96 production. looks like a dreadnought size with the cutaway. more than that, dunno. it certainly does look like there's enough wear on the fretboard for a 16/17-year-old guitar...
i'd say if the cort plays well, looks and feels solid, isn't stuffed in any way, has decent, consistent action, no string buzz, and sounds bright and cheery - plus the electronics work (take a battery with you to check) - offer him 2k cash, maybe a little less even, and you'll walk away with a very pretty and solid instrument. that top looks cool, and the case is a bonus. offer to walk away if it doesn't come with the case. the case is the clincher.
