Lol @ metal shirts.
I gave mine away to some homeless people, so if you see a guy in the streets of CT with a Cannibal Corpse shirt...don't be alarmed.
I just get a little "cringey", It's like I don't consider metal to be this prestigious style of music like classical or Jazz, which the best musicians are normally part of.
It's really funny how this all goes. Jazz was banned in Nazi Germany because it was "negro music." Jazz musicians were generally considered reefer addicts and junkies. It was thought of as wild, licentious devil-music. Now it's become the new classical. Something that respectable people listen to over a cigar and a snifter of cognac.
At least when I was a kid, metal was considered satanic (or "satanistic," or even "satanistical") which gave it a certain street cred. A lot of the kids in school used to pass around made up "satanic meanings" for metal band names and talk about the "messages" that you could convince yourself you were hearing when playing the record backwards. Weirdly, they never concentrated on the bands that sold themselves as satanic, like Venom, more on the hard-rock bands like KISS and AC/DC. They thought metal-heads were getting magic powers from some hoofy guy living under the ground.
