Non-standard frets

Anybody had any experience with "true temperament" frets? Promise perfect intonation across the fretboard, clearer chords etc. Someone on reddit came across them, feels like I'm tripping when I look at them:

O, Steve Vai also mentioned in an interview one of his JEM's are being fitted with them.

I dunno, it seems more hassle than it's worth.

If I was that anal about intonation, I'd look to a digital solution before suffering the inconvenience of these zany frets.

Besides the schlep it just looks k@k. And sooner or later the novelty will wear off, leaving you with a butt-ugly instrument that nobody will buy for what its actually worth.

Would never actually consider them of course, especially given that I like my guitar a bit off, rough and raw sounding...

I would get it, The frustration from flat or sharp notes at times really gets the best of me.

If guitars came out with the true temperament system frets initially, you would say that straight frets looked weird. It's just that you're used to the simplified look of straight frets.

AFAIC how the guitar sounds is more important than how it looks.

Thanks, I feel the same way! The truth about how my wife feels about it finally came out... when I brought home my Ibanez AXS32 she said, "the Ibanez is as beautiful as the Tele is ugly". Don't know how to react when someone compliments and offends you in the same statement... okay, thanks... I guess...
