The holes on the pickguard aren't lining up properly with the ones in the body. It'll be one or both the ones on either side of the warp. When you find the offending holes, just back out the screws a half turn and the pickguard should flatten out. Ideally you should plug the holes in the body and tap new ones.

Never tried that, but it might work - the vinyl does get more malleable with heat. Before you try it though, just loosen all the screws and make sure that it isn't still under pressure from other screws.

Dunno about the whole hairdryer idea but back in my DJ days we used to straighten old records like this, hard surface with a piece of glass over it and leave it in the sun a few minutes then let it cool down again in the shade...check and repeat as needed.

Ja, any heating method should work - maybe even an oven. I once left my licence plate (which had fallen out of its holder on my bumper) on the shelf thingy that was suspended over the boot area of my Golf, and when I got to it after some hours in the sun it had gone all soft and squishy. I had to find a place to let it cool back into its previous shape. So, provided whatever you're lying the scratchplate on is absolutely level and straight, I'm sure heating and cooling could do the job nicely.
