cadalac records the movie............... a must see....now in most dvd stores

not sure if i missed anyone posting on this.... but this movie is fabulous.............. just released on dvd a few weeks back i got to watch it last night ..........and it's awesome.............

about the history of chess records who started as a blues label with muddy waters and howling wolf to then go into rock and roll with chuck berry and then cross over with etta james .........

a great look at the industry at the times...great music too... the slide guitar in the first 20 min ( muddy waters) was awesome ...... and then the inside look of the whole blues culture......... yep shoot outs at gigs........ muso's carrying guns and using em.......... a crazy time i'm sure......... but it's all true.......

movie takes a look at how hard the music industry can be, the racism too (remember it was from 1943 to 50's ) and the drink and drugs addiction .... and the rise and fall of muso's which is sad ..... when rock and roll comes in and muddy can't find enough gigs ..... after being a superstar a few years before...but all part of the industry

i loved it and thought it should be seen by musicians in the biz or wanting to be in the biz...yeah it's old blues but i think the industry has changed little hehehhe .......

Really really good - Eamonn Walker was GREAT as Howlin' Wolf, really caught the sense of danger that surrounded him, as well as his good business sense compared to the other CR stable. One bit that annoyed me though is a question of historical accuracy around the Stones meeting Muddy Waters... In the SUPERB documentary "25x5 The Continuing Adventures of the Rolling Stones" they recount their first time seeing him "there he was, painting the damn ceiling at the studio". I kind of hoped they would put that in the movie because it sets the tone nicely for his subsequent revival in the UK... but no, more mundane in Cadillac Records.

+1 Great Movie - Seemed to stick fairly close to reality and did not go diving into Hollywood fantasy land (*cough Oliver Stone cough*) I appreciated this movie a lot because had just got through Martin Scorsese's 6 Hour documentary on The Blues a few months ago

Another great musical movie that was out last year that not many people seem to get was "Across the Universe", basically a Cameo of the late 60's early 70's set to Beatles Music There is an epic scene of American conscripts in there underware carrying the stautue of liberty through the swamps of Vietnam with the song "She's so Heavy" playing in the background.

I saw this on the shelf, and put it back but after watching the trailers I will head back to the video shop and take it out it looks like a great movie. ?

Across the Universe is a must see as well - some AWESOME interpretations of Beatles tunes (I wanna Hold Your Hand... much improved!), great cinematography and cool story too.
