Now that I've got mine home, here are some first overall impressions - not on the sound/tone, though ?
Covering - on the Cub 10 it's full grain leather look vinyl. Seems glued on and feels nice to the touch and I like the way it looks. I took off the rear grill and there, as you can see in the pic, the vinyl has come off a bit - easily fixed with a bit of glue, I suppose. Maybe a couple of staples in strategic positions ? Wouldn't say that the woodwork is high quality either, but it seems solidly put together, ie. no rattles, or loose panels.
Switches and jacks - nothing to write home about - they seem solid. The jacks are gold in colour, but I doubt it's gold plating ?
Power light - quite bright when it burns - definitely noticable - mine seems to go on and off at will. ?
Knobs - don't like these at all. The look a lot cheaper than the rest of the amp and actually detract from the overall look. They also come off very easily - I'll be replacing those soon.
The rest - it has a nice soft grip rubber handle. Pretty easy to carry. Although smaller, it seems slightly heavier than my Vox AD30VT. Can't comment much on the components, apart from saying the tubes are all Ruby and the speaker is a Celestion Tube10 (chinese made one in all probability)
Overall, I'm happy with the purchase and I think I'm going to really enjoy this little amp. Only "problem" is that it's quite loud - wouldn't really call it a bedroom practice amp - so I'm going to have to limit my practices/playing to daytime and use something quieter in the evenings (like Guitar Rig) ?
However, there is one thing I'm curious about and that's a buzzing noise coming from the amp when either of my guitars are plugged in. Would that be something to do with the amp picking up interference, or is it the guitar? Unplugged it goes away. Cranked all the way up (volume tone and gain) it's seriously loud - the buzzing.
Anyway, hope this helps a bit for those thinking about it.
