After listening how loud the cub10 is from RobK, and the review of the Cub8 by Matta, maybe I should get the Cub8, seeing that I am a bedroom guitarist, with a 9 month old son ?

I can't speak to delivery charges, but if you get the weight from the specs on the Laney web site you can phone Speed Services and get a quote. Otherwise see what the store offers - they probably have a deal with a courier company and so may be able to get it delivered even cheaper.

Just called Jean Village Music and spoke to Ross. They are talkin 3995-00 for the Cub10. Still a pretty good deal though. Anyway, if Bothners Cape is cheaper I'll get there and get someone to collect for me.

Yissis okes! Have you all got Laney Cubs now? Wanted to check if I could get the 3995-00 price in CT and heard that all stock is gone and will have to check with agents for availability and price. So I skeem y'all been runnin round buying little amplifiers.

Now my (little bit stalled) 2 X 12 cab project is going to be for this amp.

Okay okay you got me, I just picked up my Cub 8 ?

Had a chat with Matta and he reckons its more bang for the buck than a Champ 600 as a starter harp amp. Then when Ray mentioned there was stock issues it seemed like a good reason to pick it up ASAP ?

I am going to order my harp mic soon and will post clips after that.

Axe is me Squier Std Tele. First run is neck pup, tone and volume on the amp on about 6, second run is Kinman Broadcaster Bridge pup, tone and volume a lil higher, and third and forth run is also bridge pup, tone and volume flat out. Mic'd up with an SM58 with the grill taken off, about an inch from the amp's grill, slightly off center.

BTW Fritz, cant remember where I read it, but some site had some pros talking about their harp mics and one guy was adamant that the sm57 is just the best. Cheaper than a green bullet.

Yea I have read that as well, it depends on the tone you want I guess, some okes want it cleaner (sm57) and some like the added distortion the bullet mics give you. They say it is easier to cup a sm57 with your hands than a bullet, and the cupping does add lots of distortion.

Anywhoo, back on topic, the Cub 8 got a nice bit of dirt on it, so methinks it will work well as a harp amp, only time will tell tho.

It's paid for and I just gotto pick it up tomorrow at Jean Village Music. Last one in store. When I phoned Bothners they were all out in CT - I was thinking my sister could go pick it up for me. Alos, they were quoting the price that Alan mentioned earlier in this thread ie 3395 as opposed to the 3995 at Jean Village. Anyway, because it was the last one Jean Village had I just decided to get it. BTW at Bothners they said they were going to call the agents to see about getting some more in.

OK Prices confirmed:
CUB8 @ R2595- retail
CUB10 @ R3395- retail
Then obviously the 33% discount.

They have more on order for us, so speak to the sales d00ds in your closest store and tell them to call you when the stock arrives.

I'll mention this to the guys at Jean Village when I go and pick up the amp today. As I said, I paid 2677-00 which is a 33% discounted 3995-00.

Tell them the price was confirmed by Carel van Heerden. By my reckoning they owe you R436.30. If they got stock in for you, then they cannot claim that particular one came in earlier at a different price or something. (and a R600 jump in retail price would be unlikely anyway - the rand has been fairly stable lately).

OK, just went and fethced the Cub 10. I mentioned to Jake that Alan said that they have to give it to me at the price quoted in this thread other wise there was gonna be big sh!#. So they said OK and off I went with my little amp. Nah, I just mentioned what been told above and Jake said well, then they would honor that and off I went with my little amp and a couple wall hangers and a cable. And then nogal got a bit of a discount thrown in as well because the extras I took for the difference came to somewhat more than what I had paid originally. So, I gotto tell y'all to go and buy stuff there, good to deal with. Thanks evabod.

You got good service at Jean? Wow. Last time I was there I vowed to never set foot in that place again. Hahahaha. It was a long time ago but yugh I still taste the sour. Been a bit torn the past few weeks as the GFSA deal does suit my budget alot better with me shopping for a house...guess I'll toss a coin sometime before x-mas.
