I was told I need to have a look at those next time I'm in Cape Town. The specs look good from what I saw on the Laney site. Simple and inexpensive.

The CUB8 is a 5W (1 12AX7, 1 6V6GT) class A with an 8" Celestion and the CUB10 is a 10W (1 12AX7, 2 6V6GT) class AB with an 10" Celestion. I don't know the local prices but I'd guess R3K - R3K.5, maybe less...

CUB8 = R2,595
CUB10 = R3,395

Wow the 10 watter is 2x 6v6s ? Awesome...

They probably use cheap tubes in em too so swapping them out could result in a decent tone upgrade as well!

I am seriously gassing for one of these!

I saw the 8 and the 10 at Glenwood Village Music yesterday. Upon closer inspection i noticed, in the 8, written on one of the tubes was "Ruby", would that be a decent? These are so hot right now ? ! Laney seem to use great parts in their amps.

Dare I say it? ...nice little stocking-stuffers.

Ruby source valves from all over and rebrand them. So, could be Russian, Chinese or Czech, but usually decent. A set of JJs or TADs would likely be an improvement.

Had a look at the 5 watter at the Sandton TOMS store....very cute and seems to be well made......HMMMMMMMMMM...... :-\ :-\

Would it apply to Bothners countrywide? I'm definitely tempted to get myself an early xmas prezzie ?, so I'll go take a look at the 10 this weekend and see about pricing and would be interested to see what you can organise. Thanks

Hadn't thought of that, but it makes sense. I like that they haven't tried to make them high gain monsters.

Anyway, There will definitely be a decent GFSA-only special - they are just working on the pricing now and checking stock - but there will also be an additional something to sweeten the pot. More details later...

@Rob - Yes, they will do it at Bothner Stores, Glenwood Village in Durban and Jean Village in Pretoria. For those interested in ordering from more remote areas they'll be able to ship (although obviously at an additional charge).
