Hey all
I'm living in Pretoria and id like to start building a solid body electric guitar. The best/only option would probably be to import the Parts via online shopping but how much am I gonna end up paying on shipping and stuff ( or any costs that aren't listed on the website)?????

On many sites (like StewMac and USA Custom) they have a shopping basket system ... which includes a calculator for shipping costs.
It seems that weight is the critical factor, so depends what you buy.

I bought quite a bit of stuff from www.guitarfetish.com (all in a box about 40cm x 30cm x 8cm) and was pleasantly surprised when it didn't cost me a cent more than what the parts + the shipping amounted to. And it was delivered to my door by the post office courier.

Yup - on most sites you can go through the entire ordering process just short of the actual payment and the software will fill in the shipping. Take the total Dollar value, convert to Rand and add on 14% for VAT and you'll be pretty close (just depending on exchange rate on the day the parts clear customs).
Small parcels sometimes slip through customs, but you can't rely on it.
