That's very cool - and if I take the interpretation of creating something from nothing just by coincidence for some reason I am just stuck on this little verse!

Well I take it as being a description of the creative process or the state in which creativity happens.

Me too but for entirely different reasons I'm sure. When I was in high school my English ~~spinster~~ teacher was besotted with Hardy. We all had to read at least five of his dreary, loveless, morally tortured novels and write a positive review on the author. Mine was titled "Laurels for Hardy" - need I say more :-\

Very witty Rene - I'm sure the teacher was not amused! I don't know Hardy at all but I reckon that if he can come up with a thought like this he must've had something else going on apart from being a boring moralist!

I love the way that Rumor and Sigh changes pace in the second verse (the more I look at it)

Hardy is highly esteemed in as a Victorian Romantic novelist and a poet AFAIK 3 of his novels Far from the Madding Crowd,Tess of the d'Urbervilles and Jude the Obscure were made in to movies and believe it or not I watched them all but alas, was left with a futility and depression. In most cases I have felt like giving his protagonists, (victims) a stiff kick in the backside.
