in over 20 yrs of pro gigs my 1st ever my totally unplugged pro gig.......

yep, can you belive it....... i got to perform at a very upmarket restaurant and was asked to play totally sans any amplification ect ect .....

at 1st i was weary and since often play with only my guitar amp in intimate settings i though oh well lets chance it .....

well it was for a few exclusive guests who arrived in their limo.... and i sat on a chair just off the dining area overlooking the Koi pond and garden setting and played classical /flamenco repetoire for 2 sets.... but just me and the guitar .....

and wow.... being an intimate venue it was secuded and quiet .... and my yamaha classical sounded awesome .... fat and warm and incredibly enough loud enough that it carried to all the diners ....

and i found i just played normally not trying to play louder or harder to project i just played normally...after the first 15 min of apprehension i totally relaxed and had a fabulous gig....

so yeah my 1st truly unplugged and unamplified pro gig...... and after more than 20 yrs in pro muso game.... so yeah new experiences....

it was fun and i did think that this is how it was done back 100 yrs ago when gigs were totally unamplified....

The nature of the guitar (unplugged) is so intimate, I can understand why Tarrega preferred to play to his friends at parties than in big halls. It is nice if you can play in a church where the accoustics are so good, but you still need people's cooperation. Something special happens when people are realy listening as opposed to having the sound hammered in to them.

The difference being: There wasnt a rowdy/loud group at a bar in the corner to spoil everything - for you or the listeners...

heheh yeah pete i tend to thrive on the entertainment value of a performance and interacted very well the audience..... even unplugged and unamped totally .....

and yes it was a great experience ..... now i'm considering getting to do a gig wandering between the tables ...heheheh mariachi style (how do you spell that) i'd do that just for the vibe of it but might be great selling point too heheheh .....
