I have tried the Micro Br and enjoyed it, although the preset drums annoyed me so I opted for the BR600 myself.

I love the mastering capabilities these things have.

More seriously, I considered the Micro BR at one stage. But I read something about it not saving defaults, having to re-do the track settings & guitar sounds every time you turn it on...something like that(?) Also that it doesn't have good distorted amp simulation sounds. The BR600 looks nice but too big for what I want.

Instead I'm using a Korg Pandora PX4D as a travel practice amp. The size is perfect for me, the amp simulations are passable. Just wish it had at least basic recording capabilities.

what?!? R500?!? thats cheap...

BMU it's smaller than you think. I only got the BR600 because of the programmable rythym patterns. The Micro BR is awesome. There are no issues like you mention, if you read the manual right everything works great.Robert Marcello did the demo tracks for one of his albums on that.

Sorry about the amp. Nice to know re. the BR guitar sounds. Does it have at least one decent heavy amp sim, like a Dual Rectifier or similar? (I guess I'll know soon enough.)

You're going to have to wait and see if you like the effects.
As a newbie I was very happy with them
... but as we've seen ... tastes for effects borders on religious fervour ?

Nice aubs! ? I'm really gassing for the micro.. Or possibly the 600... What are the big differences that have led you to the bigger one?

And Aubs, i have only seen your gear list now.. WOW!!!! You have some amazing gear! That PRS custom 24 is such an amazing guitar. As is the Fender deluxe. Very nice! ?

Nicely done Aubs.
I've even brought mine with me to the berg.

I chose the BR600 over the Micro cos the drum patterns on the micro are all limited to 4/4. The presets on the BR are as well, but with the built in drum machine you can make your own beats as well. Its a little complicated and I'm still getting the hang of it but it is very cool.

The mastering toolkit is also very sweet.

Thanx mate. Only collected it about an hour ago, so I have not even opened it yet. Well, I was reading Don's take on the BR and the BR600, YouTubed the two, and just decided Don did all the ground-work, why start with the BR (not sure what all the limitations are though) so went with the best I could afford now.

Besides, If I have any questions, Don will be my source of information......hahahaha......I hope he won't mind.

Thanx again, GuitarBoy. I think they are all amazing in their own right, but everyone who has played both the Custom 24 and the Standard 24 prefer the latter......I think because it's brand new, and the Custom 24 is a 1992 (worn in) guitar. I love both though.

The GAS don't stop!!!! I wanna get a PRS Modern Eagle now.......hahahahaha.......no, not now, but one of these days........and the PRS 513.........and the..........hahahahahha

The modern eagle is probably the best looking guitar i have ever laid my eyes upon. What do they go for? Close on R30-50k?

Don, how easy is it to create a loop on the br-600? Is it just a matter of recording a riff, adding drums and then setting it to play? Can it do that?

Hey GuitarBoy, I'm sure Don will answer most of your questions, however, go to "YouTube.com" and type in the Boss BR600, they have lots of tutorials and demos which may answer some if not all you wanna know. And when you find them, I will have two sources to get info from!!! ?

I hate reading manuals, but gonna have to discipline myself............... ?

It can loop. It has a repeat function button. A<>B

you push it one when you want the loop to start, then at the point you want it to end. you could also set it by scrolling to the exact beat and bar in the song.
