My latest GAS driven addition...

OK I know it's not a guitar, but here's my latest GAS driven addition. I got these for a very good price and I've always wanted to learn, so now I can. Currently my boy is playing them more than I am... ?

It's a Mapex QR kit with Planet Z Zildjian Cymbal kit. Sounds very good to my untrained ear. The special included an extra 10" tom and studio rings. I'm starting my lessons next week or so.

ha ha, I have the Roland HD1 kit in my study. It takes co-ords to play drums. but I'm getting there...

Don't you get annoyed though when a drummer makes a comment to you about having to remember every song, riff, key and solo of a 4 hour set and you forget something? I feel like telling them, "shutup, you only have to remember 4/4.."

My biggest motivation at this stage is so I can show the drummer what to do instead of asking him to do things. I'ts difficult sometimes to get the message accross...

He does, he woke me up at 5:30 this morning and told me to go play guitar because he wants to play the drums.
This is his first play on them last night.

Drums are not a hard instrument to play. I learnt them awhile back, always been useful to know when recording and just playing in a band context! ?

Wow that's really cool! One of my life's ambitions too, to play some drums. I've been drumming on table tops and furniture all my life, but on the one occassion when I tried my hand on an electronic kit, I found that the arms/feet coordination thing will need some working on. Not as easy as it looks!

yeah fabulous...... percussion instruments are a fabulous way to make you a better guitarist.....

in general most guitarists have horrid sense of time in beginner and intermeadiate stages.... and most tutors spend ages getting students to actually feel time.... but playing drums /djembe anything is fabulous.......... in months you will suddenly see your timing on guitar will improve... thats of course if you working on the drum rudiments hehehheeh ..... but yeah i encourage my students battling with time ...to buy djembe's and just play along with cd's it helps them beyond belief....

so yeah nice to have an inhouse kit ... hope you have soundproof walls tho heheheh

Luckily the kit is in my office, outside of the main house, so that helps. It also helps that the property is 20 000sqm so our 1 neighbour is a church and the other neighbours are far away. ?

You are never too old to learn dude... You should at least invest in a djembe or 2...

Yea drums are supercool. I play the drums myself. Lemme tell you one thing though drums are easy to learn and damn difficult to master. You can check out www.drummerworld.com if I am not mistaken. They have all the big guys there like Dave Weckl and Virgil Donati Jim Chapin etc etc. This could be a whole new gas experience for you buddy. About December last year I went and bought myself a Pearl VBX kit in natural and a Sabian cymbal kit then I discovered this forum and fell in love with guitar again. I have a Korg to work on piano and a bass guitar but I havent started on those two yet. So yea its all about being a musician. As they say Jack of all trades, Master of none...we can prove that wrong Oh yea!
