Squashing rubber balls might actually help with finger strength, which might help with things like barre chord, though.
If you squash the ball between your thumb and the edge of first joint of your index finger, oh what the hell forget the ball just press the thumb into your index figer and you are strengthening it anyway.
so rugby players and other sportsmen and women don't need to do any gym work or other exercise programmes to improve their performance? All they need to do is play the game, run the race and they will be at the top of their game
Sorry that argument is a fail - It like saying to be a good guitarist all you need to do is get up stage and perform your repitour. There is also a world of differentce between toning gross-motor movements and fine motor movements. 100m sprints down a field requires exactly the same set of leg, lung and heart muscle as running for a soccer /rugby / cricket ball. However you wouldn't practice catching a rugby ball to improve your soccer skills.
