Who is Hennie De Bruyn??????
Manfred-Klose
Well it is what we as south africans call "Boeremusiek", and at least once in our life we came across such music.
I'm not saying its bad, its just not me.
BUt if you're a bit sceptic go check out his music if you can find it somewhere on the the net.
I only found pics, maby ask your grandfather if he has got the tapes!!!
he goes by the name "Hennie De Bruyn en die kitaar kerels "
I'd be suprised if i get a reply on this one, something different for a change.

Hy is die man met die
vuurwarm vingers
en die
silwer gospel snare
. Funny stuff.
Actually, I've encountered this kind of music many times - I spent ten years as a Rooinek kid growing up in Roodepoort. I even spent a few months playing "sakkie-sakkie" and country music in the army dance band in Kimberley until I got thrown out for playing Stray Cat Strut (the sergeant major said: "Ja, meneer Ratcliffe, jy wil mos Rock en Roll speel, ne?).

Sorry... let me repeat... the
Army Band
! They conscripted my British ass and paid me (IIRC) R130 p.m. for my trouble (R120 of which went to paying off a doubleneck guitar).

I saw an video of this Afrikaans guy that plays an metal version of Bach's Fugue in d on SABC 2 !!! He is dressed as the phantom of the opera. It's cool to see an Afrikaans instrumental artist doing something cool on TV.Forgot his name would like to hear more of his stuff.
Us younger guys could be glad that whe don't have to go to the army.I would never have been able to play so little or even go without my guitar for more than a day.
