Tone getting sucked big time through pedal board setup.

I was busy sorting out a dodgy connection on my pedal board over the weekend and decided to experiment a bit with different positions of my pedals in the chain. My setup is as follows(it will probably change again by next week ?):

Guitar ---- input of TU-2 tuner-----output of TU-2-----input of NS-2 noise suppressor---output of NS-2 ---morley bad horsie wah---GE-7 eq---OC-2 octave---CH-1 chorus---PH-2 phaser---DD-20 delay----to input of JCM2000 TSL122 2x12 combo

NS-2 send---GE-7 eq---NS-2 return ( i use this GE-7 as a boost for solos hence having to cut out some noise and it being the only pedal in the loop).

I realised ,after going through each cable and pedal in the chain, that when the NS-2 wasnt in the chain my tone sounded great. The minute I put it back in the chain though, I noticed a "drop" in overall level and the tone sounded a bit weak.

Has anyone experienced a similar "problem" with using the NS-2? I've got to use a noise suppressor or something to get rid of all the noise from the GE-7 when I use it for solos as I use quite a high gain setting on my amp for this and the noise is ridiculous. I do understand that with a lot of pedals hooked up you can lose a bit of tone through all the cabling etc. but the amount that I lose is hugely noticeable.

What to do. What to do ??? Please help ?

While we're on this topic, does anyone know where I can get hold of a decent power supply for my board? I'm currently using a few linked boss power supplies and the cables are a nightmare( I'm guessing this might be contributing to something not sounding too lekker aswell??? ???)

Anyone stock these locally or anyone know of available alternatives?

Also where can I find good quality guitar cable? I've been using the proel cables for a while but want to "upgrade" to something a bit more durable and reliable.

Are you sure you don't have the threshold set too high? I know with the NS-50 I had, If you cranked the threshold up too high, it started reducing the volume of the overall signal. You should also have all your potentially noisy effects in the loop - EQ's, Wah, overdrives and modulation.

I think Marshall Music are the Voodo agents - try them for the pedal power.

While the NS2 definately takes SOME tone, it shouldnt totally trash your tone. AS Alan said if the threshold is over about 3'o clock it starts killing your volume/tone.

I just got one 2 weeks ago and its working pretty well as follows: guitar - ns2 input - delay - tuner - amp, then ALL my effects/wah/overdrives/pitch shifters are rnning in the NS2 loop and it seems to work pretty darn good, altho when i use the overdrive pedal is volume swell in (starts softly then becomes the actual volume) but when i use the amps drive channel it works 100%.

pedal boards can be a nightmare! but in the end they kickass once they sorted. goodluck

Had a look and I had the NS-2 set at about 3 oclock. I'll give it a go a bit later and see what it sounds like. Shot for the help guys 8)

have you considered running your effects through the loop in your JCM? I think it has a loop...
