need help in picking a guitar.

Hey I need help in picking a affordable metal sounding guitar here are my choices:

To be honest, I think buying a guitar on line is a bit of a risky business. Not that I think anything illegal is going on, but you haven't been able to play the guitar, talk to the guys in the shop about it, discuss set-up, know how it feels, know how it sounds etc etc.

You may be buying blind here. Have you played examples of any of those guitars?

I've been going through this scenario myself of late. I want a Lowden. And I've done all the costing of flying one in and I've made enquiries of stores that have a good reputation. But it's still difficult: I'll pick a guitar, they'll send it to me, the guitars have a good name, the store has a good name etc etc but I won't have been to the store, played the guitars and picked the one that I like.

I am in total agreement with Bob...........if I were you, , stick with the guitar that you have right now. Set a budget for the guitar you really want, then save up until you can afford that axe. The problem with "make-do", is you will never really love that guitar, and always wish you had the one of your dreams. If you have a budget of say R4k, and the guit you want is R8k, you are already halfway there saving!!!!

Plus I can't negotiate a trade-in with them. Unless it's on the basis of "you ship it to us at your expense and we'll see what it's worth and make you an appropriate refund".

No I dont want to order online the guitar shop have them. I just thought you guys could help me with a selection. I really like the jeff hanneman one.

I thought you might have done that - just linking to the product pages.

Well if there is a specific one you like, if it sticks out like a sore tooth or speaks to you, go for it.

Considering you're almost a pro guitarist why not look for something closer to specs that you like? I.e scale length, body shape, etc?

OK... but still go to a shop.

1) Playing them will give you a better idea of the respective merits of the instruments.
2) You might see something else there that really rings your bells.

And don't rule out 2nd hand instruments. That can be a good way to get more guitar bang for your bucks.

My fist guitar is second hand. I like the jeff hanneman ltd because of the floyd rose it has. I not buying on the net. I like the inlays of it and the fret size is perfect. Thanks for all your help guys ?
