Just saw this on Gumtree, and remembering my preworn guitar rant a while back I just had to laugh:

ESP LTD James Hatfield (Metallica) Signature guitar with ESP hardcase for sale. Guitar is stunning and can do clean just as well as it does brutal distortion. Has a very comfortable neck and has sustain for ages. Has a EMG 81 in bridge and 60 in neck. This guitar is a bargain as new they retail for around R 14 000 with a hardcase. This guitar in in IMMACULATE condition.

Considering that the guitar's made to look like a rat rod pickup truck in worn primer, how exactly does the buyer know for sure?

Or will websites be created to show you - in exhaustive detail - which scratches and paint chips were not done by the factory & thus reduce the value. (tongue firmly in cheek).

My sentiments exactly....but then again, must be a easy guitar to live with...any extra scratches won't stand out.. ?

but that effect on this guitar is painted on not sanded off.

The finish yes, but the "belt buckle scratches" on the back will not show a new scratch to one that was placed there by ESP.

Anyways, Don, are you getting the Truckster? Mahogany body with maple cap if I'm not mistaken, Sperzel locking tuners, bone nut...not a bad package
