Prob a real noob question, but when i turn my volume down to say 7 on my Fender Strat, its completely mute.
So, i need to get a new Pot. No sweat... if i knew what i was looking for. Question is what do i ask for or look out for?
Currently, volume swells are tricky- easy to overshoot, really sensitive. Slight turn makes the sounds go from 100% to 0%, want it more gradual or linear from 10-1.
Any help appreciated ?

Sounds like the posts you have are the wrong taper.
What you need are CTS brand, 250K, log taper, knurled shaft. Depending on where you get them from, they may be in Fender packaging (although you pay more for the privilege). DiMarzios Are also CTS made, but have a nicer taper than the usual. They also have brass shafts and come with all the washers and nuts (and a tighter tolerance than usual). The absolute best variation are the Super Pots from RS Guitarworks. Still CTS made, but with a much tighter tolerance.

Great, thanks Alan.
CTS for sure then, and 250K. Will go to a few stores to see if they can hook me up. The Super Pots sound good, will see if they readily available .
Thanks man, appreciate it.

Super Pots are only available directly from www.rsguitarworks.net . Music Connection should have the Fender Branded ones, Marshall Music Should have DiMarzio.
