There is a short preview of the new metallica album on missionmetallica.com, not much but it is something, their style really changed back to the old school metallica(master of puppets, kill em all).
Altough St.anger was a dissapointment, I think this would be a great album. The album is planned to be released in september, there's some classic kirk hammet solo's aswell.
Did anyone grow up listening to metallica?......at least some point in your life?

AHHHH, finally a proper metallica album! That St. Anger album was the biggest waste of time!
I spent most of High school listening to the Black Album, Master of Puppets and Load.
Load is probably one of my all time favourite albums!

Hmmm... Hell yes - Kirk Hammet is one of the reasons i first considered picking a guitar up ? many years ago despite only doin so for the first time a coupla months ago.... I remember fondly my old VHS tape with the Freddie Mercury tribute on ?
Wouldn't really mention Load or the Black album in the same breath as Master of puppet and kill em all.... loved all of them though (to be honest i thought St. ange kicked serious ass replacing Jason Newstedt was the best thing for the band Robert Trujillo's bass lines really breathed new life into their sound I think St. Ange was more reminscent of their 80's stuff than anything they did in the 90's just my 2 cents)

My favourite is Garage inc(Cover album) and Black album, produced by bob rock, but they got a new kick ass producer know Rick Rubin, this guy knows what he doing, and would be able to bring metallica back again.

My all time fav is the "Cunning Stunts" DVD, I haven't seen any live DVD that comes close.
"Fade to black" and "For whom the bell tolls" are memorable.

Also got that Cunning Stunts DVD and totally agree -- it KICKS ASS!!

The Black Album's my favourite!
BTW, my drummer cringes at the mere thought of Lars Ulrich's snare sound on St Anger. A deep biscuit tin with a snare head on it. Awful, if you know anything about recording a snare drum...
Didn't care much for that album either, but I'm sure the new one is gonna be awesome.

Their "Some Kind of Monster" DVD was all about how they put that album together. Even if you HATE the album (I'm not a fan!) that movie is worth getting!
You learn a lot about band politics and how bad it can really get for a band as big as Metallica. I used to like the idea of being in a famous band but, after watching that movie, I'm not so sure any more!
Edit: "that album" == st anger

There's even a video of the recording sessions, and 1 clip where kirk pulls out a bluesy solo.
Fun fact of the day...........Did you know kirk hammett know endorses Randall amps!!!
Kirk says it is the closest sound he gan get to that 80's guitar sound he had, but with lots of gain.
