WOW..i go offline for a few days and this happens... ?
I dunno what to say besides...i am humbled by the positive response
Thank you so much everyone (especially Conrad, Rene, Alan, Linds, Banditman).
I am looking at putting a solo guitar instrumental album together...hopefully in the near future.
I haven't even thought as far ahead as gigging my music locally (mostly because i haven't been able to identify a place that would allow the artist to go off on various tangents)
As for the vocals, on flying underwater, a friend of mine i used to jam with did the vocals.
And on Out of India, the main vocal melody is a snippet taken from a tune by M.S. Subhalakshmi (a very very talented and famous indian classical singer). The other spoken bits in the song were courtesy of an ex-girlfriend and then there's me at the end going "Thats all i can think about for now". ?

What makes a great solo for me, irrespective of the style, is the way that it works with the song that it's an integral part of. As I see it your role as guitarist is to take over the singing of the emotion of the song from the vocalists for a time, and then to bring the listener seamlessly back into the song.
Completely agree with you there Banditman. I'm thinking Neil Schon here.
And lets not forget the master of it, Jeff Beck. Declan off of Who Else! makes the hair at the beck of my neck stand every time i listen to it.
