Arranging pedals

What would be the correct order to place the following pedals....

Boss Tu2 Tuner
Overdrive
Distortion
Chorus
Delay/echo
Reverb
phaser

From guitar to amp:
1) Tuner
2) phaser
3 & 4) overdrive & distortion - order is subjective matter here but a good place to start is to order them from low to high gain
5) chorus
6) Delay/echo
7) Reverb

Depending on what phaser it is, the Boss I prefer after the overdrive/gain effects.

As to the order of the distortion/overdrive, try it both ways and see what works best for you.

Do the same principles apply when arranging components in Guitar Rig software? I guess it does because it sounds like it does make a difference.

Just take the tuner out of the loop? Either your guitar detunes too quickly or you have time to plug out of the first pedal, into the tuner, tune up, plug back and do another set. If it's not adding anything, keep it out of the signal chain.

Absolutely - the effects are modelled on specific real-world effects and behave pretty much the same. I mentioned in another thread recently that the Phase 90 phaser sounds better in front of the distortion, while the Stoned (Small Stone) works best after distortion - just like their real counterparts. However, one big difference is you can do things that are physically impossible, like putting an effect between amp and speaker.

The funny thing there is no RIGHT or WRONG here. I just wired a clients pedalboard and he liked the way the Small Stone sounded BEFORE his Radial Tonebone, it gives a unique feel that he quite enjoys and he then follows that with a Pulsar Chorus/Tremelo... there really are no RULES just guidelines, use your ears. You can reinvent your WHOLE tone/sound just by using your existing pedals, just patching them differently, even if they knock convention.

+1 Grearhead regarding the tuner. One does not want the TU2 in the signal path as it sucks tone.
One could use a switcher in front of the tuner to switch the guitar from the amp to the tuner to tune and also to have as a mute switch.

Actually, I don't find the TU-2's "tone suck" to be as bad as reported by others the few times I've plugged into one. Some of the cheaper Boss Tuners are terrible, but not all of them...

In another thread the boss tu2 tone suck was mentioned, even when running it from the tuner out on the volume pedal.
I did a quick ear comparison of my tone with the tuner (off) plugged in and plugged out... to be honest I couldn't pick up much difference if any. So my conclusion was my ear must suck! :-[

so when we talking "tone suck", that would be a loss of definition of certain frequencies? possibly all frequencies?

RE the TU-2, depends on the amp you are driving, seems to be a problem with older/vintage amps, newer amps are built/designed to handle buffered pedals better. So you may not notice it much on some amps opposed to others.
