Playing with rings on...

Disclosure - this was a topic covered in a reddit post a while ago but I'd much rather hear gfsa thoughts: I've always played with my wedding ring on but I find that my ring finger is always the most stressed after playing and day after. So now I take it off when I remember - I also do sloppy slide with it when I remember... (I went to a jeweler a couple of hours ago and while stretching it they cracked it, so a solder is now necessary but I hope the upsize will make it more comfortable to play).

If i am doing a 4 hour rehersal i take it off , but for an short gigs and such not usually ..

Interesting. I've never had an issue with my wedding ring, no matter how long I play for.

Actually it is quite chunky but the problem is that it's a little tight. Wait, what are we talking about?

yeah i agree i can't do any hand jewellry when i play. not even bangles....... not even a watch .... i need max wrist flexibility

I struggle to wear rings at the best of times (big knuckles, skinny fingers), but I especially can't stand the clacking against the fingerboard as I play. It amazes me how guys like Yngwie and Hendrix can play at all with huge rings and bracelets on. Yngwie in particular - the clip of him warming up for the G3 performance (where the noise from his rings and bracelets is louder than the practice amp) is excruciating.

I personally have not had many issues with playing for any amount of time with my wedding ring on.
However, initially, i used to find it very irritating because of the discomfort; and the high B and E used to get caught whilst in the middle of an arpeggio.

Definately can't wear anything on my right hand, but I can get away with a watch.

I have no issue playing with a ring or a watch. I guess everyone is different.

I stopped wearing my wedding ring years ago and keep it in the safe, for fear of losing it. Due to my work, I'm most of the time not able to wear it anyway. But I notice most top notch players wear at least a wedding ring, or in the case of ol' Keif, a large scull, so I guess it shouldn't really interfere with playing.

I specifically chose a square shaped wedding ring (the ring is actually square) as I find it way more comfortable - it doesn't dig into the adjacent fingers like a round ring does.

but now that i think about it, maybe its just cos i have rather large knuckels... :-\
