Hey Norio why dont you put on one of those chat bar thingys, like you can type in it and it posts it instantly kinda like an IM'er but its on the front page.
FatBoy
I believe it's called a shoutbox. They irritate me, I much prefer an IRC channel.

Well regardless if its a "Shout Box' or "IRC" or whatever just a form of alternative communication to posting. I think it would clear up alot of unneeded posts.
NorioDS
I must admit, I'm not a big fan of shoutboxes myself but if the majority of you guys want it, then I might give it a go.
Thing is, unnecessary posts are a good thing as it grows the sites and helps us all develop our typing skills ;D
AlanRatcliffe
Not a fan of them myself.

IRC and shoutboxes are not the same. A shoutbox is put on the homepage of the forum. IRC = Internet Relay Chat. You use an IRC client (mIRC for instance) and you connect to an IRC server. On said server there are multiple channels, where users can chat with each other etc. I spend a lot of time on it, so just saying, a guitarforumsa channel could be cool, but yea, not a fan of shoutboxes.
NorioDS
I'm all for an IRC channel.
Suggestions for server, etc? I won't do much in the channel but I can provide the details here as the "official GFSA chat room" ?
FatBoy
I'd suggest blabbernet, but I think we need someone that is clued up with the admin side of things to secure it properly etc.
NorioDS
Oh no, I definitely don't want to run our own chat server! Just a channel on one of the old faves (Lagnet, Zanet(s), etc)
FatBoy
Yea, I am talking about a channel. Just saying I have bee around where channels got taken over etc, so we need like a channel operator that knows a tad more than me ?
NorioDS
Hehe, well depending on the server, we can use BabyServ to maintain ops. I'm more than experienced with that sort of thing.
NorioDS
Actually I mean ChanServ. BabyServ is what ZaNet.net uses and it actually makes it MORE difficult to maintain ops in the beginning stages of a channel.
