1. Ralph Macchio as Eugene Martone in Crossroads (he is also my no.1 worst guitar playing character in movies)
2. Chris Thomas King as Tommy Johnson in O Brother Where Art Thou? (I saw him playing in a tiny bar in NY, great until he brought in a DJ for his 21st Century techno blues set... but that's another story)

Johnie Depp as the gypsey guitarist in Chocolat and Antonio Banderas as El Mariachi in Desperado. Also liked that kid in August Rush, but not the main one, rather his little buddy that played at the park first - The kid with the affro pulling of Hendrix on an acoustic.

Yeah! I'm sure it was the dodgy hairstyle that hid his identity hey ? I spotted the stance, the playing and the way the dude guzzles 2 beers at a time backstage in one clip - Legend!!! Had to watch again to spot Nic Catanese though(he's the other guitarist in Zakk's real band Black Label Society btw 8)

That would have been my nomination as well. IIRC that was actually Depp playing.

I also liked the guitarist in The Commitments.

Yes Bob, I think you're right. Read somewhere music is his main passion in life. Not 100% sure on this, but I also think he actually did some guitar work on 1 or 2 Oasis albums. Another good performance was Lou Diamond Phillips as Richie Valence in LaBamba.

But he didn't play the guitar. That was either Cesar Rojas or David Hildalgo as it was Los Lobos who actually laid down all the "Richie Valens" tracks.

He played slide guitar on a track called Fade In/Out on their Be Here Now album and is also credited as one of the 'friends' on a track for the Help! charity album by Oasis & Friends
