Hmmm.. I know the new guitarist from Korn.. Shane Gibson, good guitar, AWESOME guy.. ? Just thought i'd throw that out there! ?

If memory serves me right, they originally started out with Universes, and the K7 endorsment only came later. The current guitar is the Apex, which has an odd U-bar, instead of a whammy bar.

yeah, the u-bar actually came in with the 'k7'. so they could 'palm' the trem instead of yanking a bar. since head is not with the band anymore its now just munky and his 'apex' sig. model.

how munky & head came to use the 7 string is actually one of my fav guitar stories- how they wanted 7 strings and had to hunt down the universe geets that nobody wanted. they basically paid peanuts for them , least when you compare the price today ?. also cool, is reading about all the grief they went through to record them, 7 string tuned down 1 whole step=sonic mud!!

The one great contribution Korn made to the greater good of music etc etc, was to keep us supplied with 7 strings. Vai popularized the first wave in '90, then shredding became unfashionable and for one dreadful, scary year Ibanez didn't have any 7's in their catalogue. (It was maybe '96 or so.. ?) But then Korn happened and from the next year, and ever since, we've never been out of 7's. All hail Korn! Pity about their music BWAAHAAHAA.

Btw I loved their first UVs, they wrapped them in duct tape all around the top cutaway horn and made them look really messed up, it was way cooler than any of their signature 7's have been. This latest Apex with star fret markers and "69" at the 12th fret looks terrible to me in a pimp suit kinda way.

I love KoRn because they do [did] what they do well...those K7 Ibanez Axe's are shweeeet!
